Triangle leads first round funding in TakWak
January 18, 2010

Munich-based TakWak GmbH, a spin-off from the leading fixed-mobile convergence provider fg microtec, receives €2.5 million from Triangle and ERP Startfonds to start operations and develop its unique, ruggedized outdoor device.

TakWak will produce a rugged outdoor group navigation and communication device. Today’s outdoor enthusiast has to buy three different devices to have access to navigation and group communication. Takwak’s easy-to-use and stylish device offers all outdoorsman or outdoorswoman a real all-in-one alternative to existing technologies.

“To understand the market potential and customer requirements for dedicated devices that offer the user the best functionality and highest quality for a specialized application, TakWak’s K2 device can be compared with digital cameras or mp3 players”, says Uli W. Fricke, founding partner of Triangle. “The growing success of these items illustrates the customer’s desire for a high-quality device combined with the willingness to spend money on features and quality even though the same basic functionalities are available in converged devices such as mobile phones and smart phones. Furthermore, the popularity of outdoor activities and group vacations is growing at an up-market level. TakWak enters both growth markets, providing a unique multifunctional, dedicated outdoor-sports device based on cutting-edge telecommunication and space technologies to provide a radical new user experience.”
